How it fits together
## How Silicon sits on your stack
Your team keeps running the warehouse and dbt. Silicon reads them where they are and turns your metric definitions into answers, dashboards and checks.

## What's in the platform
Eleven tools on one set of metric definitions. A dashboard, an answer in Slack and an agent all pull from the same place, so they agree.

FAQ
## Questions about the platform
### Can we use just the platform? +
Yes. Team is $1,499 a month and Pro is $2,399 a month, with unlimited users on both. Your data team connects Silicon to your warehouse and dbt project, and you can partner with us later if you need more hands.
### How does the platform work? +
Silicon connects to your warehouse and reads your dbt project. Your metrics and models become a governed semantic layer, which powers dashboards, reports and AI answers. Silicon also watches your repository and checks every pull request against what depends on it.
### How does Silicon avoid hallucinated answers? +
Silicon answers from your semantic layer, not raw tables. It uses the metrics, dimensions and joins defined for your company, runs every query with the asking user's permissions, and shows the SQL and definitions behind each answer so it can be checked.
### What happens when a schema changes? +
When a pull request changes a model, Silicon compares it with every dashboard, report and metric that depends on it. If anything would break, it comments on the pull request with the affected assets and can draft a fix.
### Does Silicon replace our BI tool? +
For most companies on a modern warehouse, yes. Silicon covers dashboards, scheduled reports, alerts, self-serve exploration and AI answers. Some teams run it alongside an existing BI tool while they migrate.
### Does Silicon work with Segment, PostHog or GA4? +
Event data from tools like Segment, PostHog or GA4 works once it lands in your warehouse. Silicon reads it from there, next to your billing and CRM data, so product and revenue metrics share one set of definitions.
### Is Silicon secure? +
Silicon connects with read-only access, runs queries in your warehouse and never uses your data to train models. AI answers respect row- and column-level permissions. Enterprise adds SSO, SCIM and private deployment in your VPC. We haven't completed a SOC 2 or HIPAA audit yet; the Security page describes how we handle data today.
