### Does Silicon copy my data out of BigQuery? +
Silicon queries BigQuery live through your semantic layer, so the data stays in your BigQuery account.
### What access does Silicon need in BigQuery? +
Read access to the schemas and tables your dashboards and metrics use. Silicon does not need write access to your data.
### Do we need dbt? +
It helps, because Silicon reads your models and descriptions from it. Metrics can also be defined in Silicon YAML without a dbt project.
